Memorial Day Weekend

We would have loved to spent part of the weekend at the lake but it was just not quite warm enough to venture out. Instead we visited Jason’s sister’s grave and remembered her. It was quite emotional being at the cemetery and thinking back over the past year and also remembering the two people from our ward who have died. I loved the flags and my heart swelled with gratitude for this great country we live in and for the men and women who protect our freedom by giving their lives. It was a moving and humbling experience. IMG_0148IMG_0149

We also decided to spend some time in our downtown area which we love. The kids all love our greatest attraction: the big red wagon slide and we had some fun photo ops with all six kids on the slide.IMG_0140IMG_0144-1IMG_0127

We also went to see the falls:

DSCN3920While we were downtown we did some shopping to set the kids up with their summer shoes. We have got this down to a science as we do the same thing every year at the REI sale.

I am so ready for school to be out. We just have to hang on for two more weeks. I am done every year by spring break and totally done by memorial day. It’s so hard to send the kids back. We have a really streamlined, simple summer lined up and I am looking forward to lots of warm, relaxing days spent on the water.
